Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy

A few years ago I read a book called, "The Forgotten Body: A Way Of Knowing and Understanding Self" by Elissa Cobb, co-director of Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Training Center in Bristol, Vermont. It was one of those reads that I just could not put down and I felt as if this woman knew and understood exactly where I was moving on my Life's Journey. I was hungry for more and very interested in exploring this process of yoga & healing thinking it might be a perfect complement to my reiki practice and yoga instruction.

This past June, I was lucky enough to participate and complete Level One Training at Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy with Karen Haasskarl, co-director at PRYT. What an amazing experience! At PRYT you learn to become a practitioner by experiencing this compassionate and supportive healing style first hand. The most important part of the training for me was learning to become an unconditional presence for others as well as experiencing what it feels like to have someone become that for me. PRYT combines fully assisted yoga postures with non-directed dialogue guiding the client to self-observe, breathe and stay in the present moment. Physically - it feels great! Mentally, Emotionally and Spiritually it supports healing! What could be better! I have incorporated some learned assists in my classes already and all I hear is "aaaahhhh - that feels great!" I plan to go on to complete Level Two this Fall and hopefully Level Three and complete certification this Winter and Spring.
Here is an excerpt from PRYT website: http://pryt.com/index.html

"Though at times we look for outside sources to guide us, somewhere deep inside we know that we must slow down, reconnect with ourselves, and listen to our own inner voice.

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, through a combination of classical yoga techniques and elements of contemporary body-mind psychology, encourages this deeper connection with self. Through this deeper connection, we are able to know ourselves more fully. And out of this knowing, we are more easily moved to embrace the opportunity for change, growth and enhanced well being in body, feelings, thought, and spirit.

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy changes lives from the inside out."
